Shop/wine critic/winery review of the wine: The reviews from three wine critics for this wine rated in an overall 82/100 score. Some of the critics mentioned that it tasted/smelled like hay or dirt or grass, which might be why I was smelling a dusty smell. One of the reviews mentions how it seems to have gaps in the flavors, which I could agree with as it tasted odd or slightly off to me. Another critic mentions how it is bitter in the finish and bland. https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/mannina+sauv+blanc+central+valley+chile/1/usa-va-y#t3
References of specific flavors, aromas, and grape varietal characteristics taken directly from the Wine Folly text, with page numbers referenced: The Wine Folly book mentions how the Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow best on the coastal regions of Chili on page 212. The book also says that Chileans Sauvignon Blanc is unique because it has tastes of white peach and grapefruit while being contrasted with lemongrass, pea, and concrete (pg 215). It also mentions that it is highly aromatic (pg 215). On page 165, the book mentions how it has strong herbaceous flavors. It also mentions how it goes well which asian food, which surprised me (page 165).
Your review: I drank this wine chilled, and I was not a fan of the wine. The first thing I noticed was the smell, which was very odd. It smelled slightly dusty, slightly like old alcohol, (if you imagine how an apartment would smell the morning after a party), and slightly metallic. As for tasting wise, it was slightly bitter and dry, but still light in taste. I could not taste any of the fruit that was mentioned on the label, but that might be due to my inexperience with wine tasting. I drank this wine over two days, and on the second day I thought it tasted and smelled slightly better. It was more mild in both taste and smell, but still too bitter for me on the second day.
I did not drink this wine with food.
