Tasting- "Ayrum"

Name of the wine: Ayrum

Variety of the grape(s) in the wine: Garnacha

Country of origin: Spain

Region of origin: Castilla

Vintage year: Was not listed on the bottle

Price: The average price for the 750 mL bottle is $6.04 but I got mine for free on an airplane (I could not find the exact same type of wine as the one I had anywhere, but this is the same brand and appears to be most similar: https://www.vivino.com/US/en/ayrum-tempranillo-garnacha-rosado/w/1587150)

Shop/wine critic/winery review of the wine: Overall, the wine recieved a 3.0/5 stars. Many critics mentioned flavors of red fruit, such as strawberries, rasberries, or cherries. Additionally, citrus and lemon was a popular flavor that many people tasted. Some reviews also said it is semi-sweet with medium body. (I could not find a review for the exact wine, as this one looked a tad different but it was the closest I could find. One of the reviewers mentioned that this wine they sold on American Airlines Economy, which is where I had it, so I am thinking it might be the same wine. https://www.vivino.com/US/en/ayrum-tempranillo-garnacha-rosado/w/1587150)

References of specific flavors, aromas, and grape varietal characteristics taken directly from the Wine Folly text, with page numbers referenced: The wine folly book mentions on page 117, how Grenache grapes (also known as garnacha) are used to produce both reds and roses (the one I had was a rose). It mentions how Garnacha has flavors of strawberry, plum, leather, dried herbs, and blood orange. On page 117, it also mentions how it is grown everywhere in Spain, and on page 118 mentions how the wines from Spain are more fruit forward and have high alcohol.

Your review: I thought this wine was okay, not my favorite but not terrible. I thought it smelled and tasted slightly chemically, which I am unsure why and threw me off. I also thought that it tasted like a sweet cherry, but was also a little bit watery. The wine tasted slightly sweet to sweet.

I ate pretzels while I drank this wine.
